The Practice

Thirty days, ten minutes a day, five capacities AI can't do without.

Why practice, not just reading

Most training doesn't stick. The research on this is some of the most consistent there is: under pressure, we fall back on what we've practiced most, not what we learned most recently. What works is small, repeated practice, spaced over time, in your real life. The Practice is built that way. The reading explains. The ten minutes a day is what changes anything.

What's inside

This is the Founding Edition, a PDF of nearly 50 pages. Most of them are worksheets you can fill in on-screen or print and write on by hand. The full edition arrives in January 2027, with the personal stories behind each capacity from my work in East Africa and the classroom, and founding readers receive it for free. The playbook comes in three parts.

Part I. The evidence. One chapter for each capacity: Emotional Literacy, Self-Location, Mirror Work, Empathic Listening, and Team Presence. Each opens with a moment you'll recognize from work, explains what the research shows, and is graded honestly: what stands on experiments, and what stands on practice.

Part II. The thirty days. Ten minutes a day, one capacity a week. It begins with a sealed snapshot of where you are now and ends on Day 30 with your AI Working Agreement rewritten from scratch, so you can see what moved.

Part III. The team. Three things one person can start with their team, using nothing but this book.

Plus a printable tracker and a page on how people actually finish thirty-day programs. Most don't, and the research is clear about what helps.

Who it's for

People who use AI at work and want to stay strong at the part only they can do. Managers and team leads who want to practice what they ask of their teams. Anyone who finished the AI Working Agreement and wants to keep going.

It isn't for anyone looking for a prompt-writing course or a quick fix. And it isn't therapy. If reflecting on something painful keeps circling without moving forward, that's a signal to talk to a person, not to write harder.

The label

Some of this rests on decades of experiments. Some rests on long practice. The Practice tells you which is which, chapter by chapter, and lists every source so you can check them yourself. Nothing you write in it is ever AI-written. A machine-written reflection is a summary of a workout you didn't do.
